Belarus has sown 48,600 hectares with linen flax, which makes up 96.6% of the areas allocated for this crop, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 4 May, some 819,500 hectares (95.2%) were planted with cereal and leguminous crops (except for maize, buckwheat and millet). Fieldwork has almost been completed in Brest Oblast, Gomel Oblast, Mogilev Oblast, Minsk Oblast, and Grodno Oblast. Some 75.6% of the areas have been sown in Vitebsk Oblast. An estimated 860,900 hectares have been allocated for early cereal and leguminous crops in the country this year.

Belarusian farmers have sown 86,100 hectares with sugar beet, which accounts for 94.1% of the target, and 16,700 hectares with potatoes (77%). The planting of vegetables is 72% complete (3,021 hectares), that of maize – 65.4% (740,200 hectares), that of colza – 88.9% (46,400 hectares). Almost 2 million hectares have already been sown with early spring crops this year.
