Ten Belarusian teams advance into final of Beginner Farmer business game

Ten Belarusian teams will compete in the final of the Beginner Farmer business game due in Mytishchi in Moscow Oblast on 19-20 May, project coordinator, Secretary of the BRSM Central Committee Yulia Zinkevich told BelTA.

“Belarus is taking part in this international project for the first time thanks to the partnership between the BRSM Youth Union and the Russian Union of Rural Youth. The national round of the competition brought together students of rural schools and agricultural universities, young specialists and entrepreneurs working in the agricultural sector,” Yulia Zinkevich said. There are ten Belarusian teams among 34 teams shortlisted for the final. The finalists also include teams from Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Germany, she added.

Belarus will be represented by the teams of Kozlov Gymnasium No.8 of Zhlobin, the gymnasium of Kletsk, Pervomaisky Secondary School of Grodno Oblast, and the secondary school of the village of Vistychi in Brest District. The Belarusian finalists also include the teams of Glubokoye State Vocational Lyceum, Lobanok Maryina Gorka Agrarian Technical College, Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University, Grodno State Agricultural University, and the Gomelpromstroi company, as well as Nikolai Mozol, a representative of the club of young people with disabilities of Mikashevichi.

The Belarusian youth delegation departed for Moscow on 18 May. “The final will take place on 19 May. Every team will present themselves, demonstrate their project, and answer questions from the jury. All in all, every presentation will last for ten minutes. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 20 May,” Yulia Zinkevich noted.

On 17 May, the National House of Youth hosted a meeting with the Belarusian teams. They thanked the BRSM for the opportunity to work towards their goals together with like-minded people.

Second Secretary of the BRSM Central Committee Aleksandr Prokhorov and Deputy Chairwoman of the Belarusian Association of Business Support Infrastructure, international expert of the Beginner Farmer business game Rimma Yepur addressed the Belarusian teams.

“You have the honor to represent Belarus at a large-scale international competition,” Aleksandr Prokhorov said. “You should prove yourselves, pitch your projects in a way as to get the attention of the jury that has already seen many projects. I believe in you,” he added.

Rimma Yepur thanked the Belarusian finalists for their work and hailed their innovative ideas. All of you deserve success. Your main task is to pitch your projects in an impactful way, she stressed.

The main goal of the Beginner Farmer business game is to find and support talented young people who are involved in business projects to advance agriculture.

The national stage of the game in Belarus has been organized by the BRSM with the support from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry. The final has been organized by the Russian Union of Rural Youth.
