Lukashenko, Putin reconcile 28 Union State programs

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin have reconciled all the 28 Union State programs. These programs will be discussed by the governments of the two countries in Minsk on 10 September. After that they will be forwarded for consideration of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, which session is supposed to take place by the end of the year. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement after negotiations with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Moscow on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Putin said: “Today I’d like to note with satisfaction that all the 28 programs have been reconciled. Tomorrow they are supposed to be approved by the Council of Ministers of the Union State in Minsk. After that they will be forwarded for approval of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, which session is supposed to take place by the end of this year. Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] and I have agreed that we will look at our schedules and pick a date more or less precisely.”

In his words, these programs are designed to unify the legislation of Belarus and Russia in various branches of economy. They are designed to level the playing field for Belarusian and Russian commercial entities, build common financial and energy markets, build transport space, work out and realize a common industrial and agricultural policy.
