Belarus’ food export up by about $1 billion in 2021

Belarus’ food export rose by about $1 billion in 2021, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo said during a board meeting of the Agriculture and Food Ministry on 22 February, BelTA has learned.

"In 2021, Belarus’ exports of food products and agricultural raw materials increased by 17.3% over 2020 and reached $ 6.7 billion. The increase was about $1 billion. Foreign trade surplus amounted to $2.2 billion and rose by $700 million or 44% over 2020. Food and agricultural raw materials accounted for about 17% of the total export of Belarus," Igor Brylo said.

Belarusian food was sold into 109 countries, including the Eurasian Economic Union and European Union, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, South and North America. “Capital investments exceeded Br3.5 billion, up 3% year-on-year. Belarus commissioned 59 dairy farms, 12 cattle production facilities, six hog farms, and purchased over 7,000 pieces of agricultural machinery and equipment to the tune of more than Br1 billion,” the minister said.
