Lukashenko extends Constitution Day greetings

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended Constitution Day greetings to the Belarusians on 15 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state pointed out that this year the date has a special meaning because the constitutional amendments adopted at the national referendum came into force on 15 March. “We are opening a new chapter of our history - a modern history, looking forward to the future of Belarus. By strengthening the legal foundation of the society, we are creating a reliable mechanism of protection of original values, national memory and traditional way of life for the next generations,” the message of greetings reads.

“The Belarusians have made their choice, demonstrating their civic maturity, their commitment to peaceful, creative, evolutionary development of the country. Having preserved the foundations of a sovereign state that guarantees the social security of its citizens, we have improved the institution of the people's government and developed a system of governance that meets the challenges of our time,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the Belarusians together have to fully realize the potential of the updated Basic Law to strengthen the unity of the people and the successful self-fulfillment of each person, to ensure the rule of law.

“I am convinced that, based on the provisions of the Constitution, we will make our Belarus even stronger, more beautiful and happier country,” the head of state said. He wished everyone health, prosperity, mutual understanding and new achievements for the benefit of the dear Fatherland.
