Delegation of Russia's Kursk Oblast visits Belarus' Grodno

A delegation from Kursk Oblast of Russia is visiting Belarus' Grodno Oblast, BelTA learned from the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

The official visit envisages a two-day program, the main goal of which is to promote interregional relations as part of the agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and humanitarian cooperation between the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and the Kursk Oblast Administration for 2020-2023.

On 21 March, the Russian delegation is set to hold negotiations with representatives of FEZ Grodnoinvest and the Grodno branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Plans are also in place to visit Grodno Azot and get familiar with the trade and exhibition center of ZOV furniture factory. A meeting with Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Karanik is scheduled for 22 March. After that, visits will be paid to a number of other facilities, including the Kremko production cooperative in Grodno District, the Grodno Zonal Institute of Crop Production of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in Shchuchin, and the Minoity repair plant in Lida District.

According to the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, the export to Kursk Oblast amounted to $15.9 million in 2022, 0.9% of the Grodno Oblast's export to the Russian Federation. The main export items to Kursk Oblast included mineral and chemical fertilizers, oilcake, nylon threads, cattle meat, paper, cardboard, linen made of cellulose fibers, motor vehicles, semi-trailers for cargo transportation, rubberized textile materials.

An agreement between the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and the administration of Kursk Oblast on cooperation was signed on 9 June 2018. The action plan for 2020-2023 provides for the implementation of 24 joint activities in trade and economic sector, agriculture, transport and construction, culture, tourism, sports and youth policy, education, social security, and information support.
