Volfovich comments on attempts to drag Belarus into conflict

All attempts of the United States and the collective West are aimed at maintaining a unipolar world, State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said as he met with the staff of Grodno Azot and ideologists of Grodno organizations to brief them on ongoing military and political developments in Belarus and abroad, BelTA has learned.

“The leadership of the United States imagines itself as a democratic outpost fighting for democracy and human rights. In fact, if you take a look at and analyze the steps of the authorities of the United States and the collective West, you will see that all the attempts are aimed at maintaining a unipolar world,” said Aleksandr Volfovich.

He said: “Tensions in the Pacific, in the Middle East, in the Central Asian countries did not just happen overnight. Where there are hotbeds of tension, there are supplies of weapons, military conflicts, destruction, death, and famine. But those whom I just mentioned are fattening their pockets producing new modern weapons, bombs and missiles, sending them to these regions. They do not think about Ukrainians, about our Slavonic nations.”

Aleksandr Volfovich added that Belarus is one of the few parts in the Eastern European region which remains safe and stable. “Not everyone likes the fact that our country remains in the state we see it today. They do not like the fact that our enterprises continue working, people continue living their normal lives. They do not like that our people do not go hungry, and on the contrary have an opportunity to choose from a wide range of products in stores. Not everyone likes the policy pursued by our president and the government to ensure the security of our people,” he said.

“The West believes that since it is stable here, it needs to drag us into a military conflict, and, first of all, into the conflict that is taking place in Ukraine. They will not succeed, because the president has clearly said that we will not go to war, especially not against our brotherly people. We are not going to fight against any other nations either: neither Polish, nor Lithuanian, or Latvian. They are our neighbors. We have always lived peacefully with them. The people who come to us visa-free today see the real situation in our country,” the state secretary of the Security Council said.
